Getting around Cardiff

There are lots of great transport options to take you from your student flats in Cardiff to other parts of the city or further afield. By Bus

The operator Cardiff Bus runs the buses in and around the city. They take both cash and card but make sure you’ve got the right money as they don’t give change. For anything outside of the city, StageCoach is your best bet, with services running to places such as Caerphilly, Tongwynlais, and the Valleys.

By Train

There are 20 train stations in the city, which makes it easy to get from your student halls in Cardiff to just about anywhere. The main stations are Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central, with regular services running around and outside of the city.

By Bike

Cardiff is predominantly a flat city which makes it great for cycling around. There are plenty of cycling paths around the city such as the Taff Trail, an 8-mile stretch of well-maintained cycle path that runs from Cardiff to ​​Tongwynlais. For those who don’t have their own bike, the city has nextbike UK, a bike-sharing system that allows you to rent a bike for short periods.

By Boat

Boats are a fun and unique way to see Cardiff from the water. You can get the waterbus to Bute Park and close to Westgate to do some shopping.

Cathays 

Home to about a third of the student population in the area, it’s no wonder Cathays has a seriously large selection of student flats in Cardiff. Roath
